Dr. Rodney Bain Obituary

Dr. Rodney Donald Bain, 63 of Rexburg, died Thursday, June 19, 2014 in Rexburg. 
He was born April 12, 1951 in Boston, Massachusetts to Ivy Adams and William Walter Bain, Jr. He was raised along the eastern seaboard, graduating from Englewood High School in Jacksonville, Florida. 
He received his Bachelors and Masters degree and PhD. from the University of Colorado. He taught at Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado, teaching electronics, and he concluded his teaching career at Brigham Young University Idaho. He loved teaching and he loved his students.
NASA used his doctoral dissertation and other works in their space program.
He entered the Air Force in 1969 and retired in June of 1991. He served in Thailand during the Vietnam War and he served in the first Persian Gulf War.
He married Nancy Ann Stewart on September 22, 1973 in the Provo, Utah LDS temple. He is survived by his wife of Rexburg and a daughter Deirdre (Daniel) Johnson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and grandsons, Teagan and Owen and granddaughters, Kinley and Riley.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014 in the Sugar City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday at the Crest Haven LDS church from 6 to 7:30 p.m. 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Rev Jeff Hartman posts: Dr. Rodney Bain received his Bachelors and Masters degree and PhD from the University of Colorado. He taught at Lowry AFB, Colorado, teaching electronics, and he ended his teaching career at Brigham Young University Idaho. He loved teaching and he loved his students. NASA used his doctoral dissertation and other works in their space program. He entered the Air Force in 1969 and retired in June 1991. He served in Thailand during the Vietnam War and he served in the first Persian Gulf War. Rodney and I (Jeff Hartman) remained friends from Southside Jr. High through graduation at Englewood High School.
